Hochstrasser
Since 1930, the art of distilling has been continued by the fourth generation. Through constant development and consideration of traditional values, Hochstrasser has been producing spirits of the highest quality for 90 years.
In 1930, at the age of 30, Johann Hochstrasser and his wife Maria took over the agricultural estate on the market square in Mooskirchen. The original business was divided into the areas of an inn with guest rooms, wine-growing, schnapps distillery and a farm with livestock breeding. The first schnapps was distilled in the old cellar vault in a water bath distillery with a Lutterkessel and preheater. The still was under the strict supervision of Johann Hochstrasser until, over time, our first employee, "master distiller Hans", took over the distillery. In 1967, the business was handed over to the then 25-year-old Gerold Hochstrasser, the youngest of three sons, and his wife Liane. He renovated the inn and made it the center of the business. The following years were crowned by the success of the good cuisine, which ensured that the name Hochstrasser reached far and wide - even as far as Graz. Back then, Gerold Hochstrasser created products such as the Styrian Kletzen cocktail, which are still best-sellers today.
